Farm fields, cows, barns and the Monty Moles that pop out of the road.
Free · open source · Godot 4
An arcade kart racer in the spirit of Mario Kart 64. Drift, hop, mini-turbo, throw shells, and get thrown into the air by a train.
macOS · Windows · Linux x86_64 · Linux arm64
Each course has its own music, scenery and a hazard borrowed from Mario Kart 64.

Farm fields, cows, barns and the Monty Moles that pop out of the road.

A city highway with traffic: buses and trucks that you have to weave around.

Snowmen to dodge, sheet ice that keeps you sliding, and penguins on the ice.

A desert with a jump ramp and a steam train crossing the road. Wait for it.

Any course, 1 to 7 laps, you against seven CPU racers.

All four courses in a row, 9/6/3/1 points, and a trophy. Finish 5th or worse and you retry.

Race alone against the clock. Your best run comes back as a ghost kart.

Balloon Battle in three arenas: Big Donut, Block Fort and Skyscraper.
Mushrooms, bananas, green and red shells, triple shells, the blue spiny shell, a star, lightning, a fake item box and a Boo. Hold a banana behind you as a shield, fire shells backwards, or toss bananas ahead.
Every icon is drawn from a few polygons and circles in code.

The same code runs on all of them. Each download is a single self-contained binary: no Godot install, no extra files.
Universal: Apple silicon and Intel. Developer ID signed and notarized.
x86_64. Unsigned, so expect a SmartScreen prompt the first time.
A tar.gz with one binary. Untar and run.
For Raspberry Pi 4/5 class boards and other arm64 desktops.

Checksums and older versions are on the releases page. Prefer to build it yourself? git clone https://github.com/AgentiLoop/GoKart.git then godot --path . with Godot 4.4+.
GoKart was written by Agent! running Auto-Pilot on one goal: make a Mario Kart clone. Every track, kart, effect and sound is generated from code, and the repo carries a unit suite of over 14,000 checks. The blog post tells the whole story, including where it got stuck.
GoKart is an independent fan project inspired by Mario Kart 64. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.
